Short documentaries are flourishing. Hear from representatives of the leading distribution platforms including Lindsay Crouse (NY Times Op-Docs), Ryan Harrington (National Geographic Documentary Films), Christine Kecher (A+E IndieFilms) and Adam Neuhaus (ESPN Films) on what they look for. Moderated by DOC NYC Shorts Programmer Opal H. Drea Cooper (Fire in Paradise), Luther Clement (Stay Close), Matt Kay (Little Miss Sumo), and Amy Schatz (Song of Parkland) discuss the art of profiling unique individuals in short docs. Moderated by DOC NYC Associate Shorts Programmer and SIFF Programmer Megan Leonard,

1:45-2:55 PM Shorts: Getting Political
Gary Byung-Seok Kam (In the Absence), Katie Bryer (Lost and Found), Katie Barnes (Mack Wrestles), and Sami Khan (St. Louis Superman) discuss different ways of approaching political topics in short docs. Moderated by DOC NYC Shorts Programmer Opal H. Bennett.

3:15-4:25 PM Shorts: Global Studies
Carol Dysinger (How to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl)), Alexander Mora (The Nightcrawlers), Bassam Tariq (Ghosts of Sugar Land), and Andrew Blackwell  (Tungrus) discuss bringing local stories to international audiences. Moderated by DOC NYC Shorts Programmer Opal H. Bennett.
