Centerstage: The Last Impresario and Us, Naked: Trixie & Monkey
One of DOC NYC’s four brand new sections, Centerstage spotlights personalities in showbiz.
The most famous producer you’ve never heard of, Michael White is the man behind such Broadway and West End hits as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Not without his share of setbacks, White’s bankruptcy and recent heart attack are portrayed in Gracie Otto’s deft feature debut, The Last Impresario, alongside interviews with some of his close friends, including Naomi Watts, John Cleese, Anna Wintour, John Waters and Kate Moss.
Us, Naked: Trixie & Monkey is a wildly entertaining romp with two burlesque performers, from their base in Baltimore to a New England circus school, to their new home in New York City. World premiering at DOC NYC, Kirsten D’Andrea Hollander’s film is an exploration of partnership, passion and performance. For a sneak peek of the duo in action, check out this video.
