DOC NYC Special Events
Of course, we at DOC NYC think all of our events are special. But there are a few that die-hard documentary aficionados may want to keep a close eye on. Tickets to all films will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Oct. 12.
DOC NYC will host the World Premiere of TO TELL THE TRUTH: A HISTORY OF DOCUMENTARY FILM 1928-1946, directors Cal Skaggs and David Van Taylor’s examination of the role documentary has played as propaganda, and in advancing social causes.
At our Sundance Institute Panel, filmmakers Jehane Noujaim (CONTROL ROOM, RAFEA: SOLAR MAMA), Roger Ross Williams (GOD LOVES UGANDA), and Jeremy Scahill (DIRTY WARS)–all of whom are Sundance Documentary Film Program alumni–will discuss the role Sundance has played in shaping their work and careers. The panel will also feature Sundance DFP Director Cara Mertes, and will be moderated by journalist Glen Greenwald of The Guardian.
DOC NYC will also showcase shorts from acclaimed filmmakers featured in the year-old The New York Times Op-Docs series, presented by series producer Jason Spingarn-Koff, who will host conversations with several contributors.
