SILVER DOLLAR ROAD
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro) chronicles the way real estate developers work in blatant and subtle ways to divest Black families from inherited property. He focuses on the case of the Reels family in North Carolina who resisted intimidation tactics and dubious legal maneuvers over several decades. The film draws upon the in-depth reporting of Lizzie Presser, published by ProPublica and The New Yorker.
The first screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Raoul Peck.
