2013 DOC NYC audience award winner WEB has a NYT Op-Doc.
For the feature length documentary WEB, Michael Pertnoy and Michael Kleiman followed the work of One Laptop per Child (O.L.P.C.). The organization is particularly active in Peru, where the government has purchased and distributed hundreds of thousands of O.L.P.C.’s laptops to its poorest communities. One such village is Palestina, deep in the Amazon rain forest. View the NYT Op-Doc.

A WORLD NOT OURS (DOC NYC 2013 Viewfinder Grand Jury Prize) opens at IFC Center Friday 5/23.
If Woody Allen made a film about a Palestinian refugee camp, it might come out like A World Not Ours. Director Mahdi Fleifel grew up in the camp of Ein el-Helweh in southern Lebanon before his family moved to Europe. This film documents his trips back for a sensitive, funny and illuminating study of belonging, friendship and family. Showtimes and tickets at IFC Center.
KIDS FOR CASH (DOC NYC 2013) out on DVD and VOD.
In the wake of the shootings at Columbine, a small town in Pennsylvania celebrates a charismatic judge who is hell-bent on keeping kids in line. His courtroom sends young people into incarceration at an alarming rate until one parent dares to question his motives. More information on the film website.
