DOC NYC Selects is a in-person, ongoing screening series that serves as an extension of DOC NYC’s annual fall festival. The Winter 2024 edition of the series will feature five films over five consecutive weeks, February 13 – March 12, 2023, at New York’s IFC Center, with filmmakers in person for all shows.
The new season of DOC NYC Selects will offer audiences a variety of new documentary features, the majority screening in New York City for the first time. Each screening will feature on-stage post-screening conversations with creators and subjects, which will extend beyond the theater with an after-screening Selects gathering at the nearby Village favorite Bar Veloce.
DOC NYC SELECTS LINEUP
An intimately raw and magical journey through the life, mind, and heart of iconic artist Frida Kahlo. Told through her own words for the very first time — drawn from her diary, revealing letters, essays, and print interviews — and brought vividly to life by lyrical animation inspired by her unforgettable artwork.
A fresh perspective on the provocative and controversial criminal defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, known for representing some of America’s most notorious clients. Narrated by Dershowitz with insights from Gloria Allred, Mike Tyson, and Megan Kelly, this engaging documentary unveils a fresh perspective on the provocative and controversial lawyer.
Crosstown High in Memphis, Tennessee is one of the XQ schools in the U.S. that is redefining the future of learning, and in Lee Hirsch’s closely observed verité film, the story of Crosstown’s founding class gives voice to the beauty and value of high school—and the possibility of what high school can be for students everywhere.

DOC NYC Selects: Winter 2024 events are on sale now at www.docnyc.net and www.ifccenter.com. Single screening tickets are $18- ($15 for seniors and $12 for IFC Center members) each. A Series Season Pass, good for all fix Winter 2024 screenings in the DOC NYC Selects series, is available at $70 ($50 for IFC Center members).
